Ball bearing units (Y-bearing units)
Conventional SKF ball bearing units consist of:
an insert bearing (Y-bearing) which is based on a single row deep groove ball bearing with a sphered (convex) outside surface and an extended inner ring (fig. 1)
a housing, which has a correspondingly sphered but concave bore (fig. 2).
Ball bearing units can accommodate moderate initial misalignment, but normally do not permit axial displacement. The SKF assortment includes units to ISO standards, North American standards, and Japanese Industrial Standards.
They are ready-to-mount, ready-to-use units and available as:
Ball bearing plummer block units
Ball bearing flanged units
Ball bearing take-up units

WARNING
If ball bearing units are to be used in an application where health, safety, or the environment is at risk, the SKF application engineering service has to be contacted during the design phase.
This is also true for applications with relatively high speeds and where machine downtime can cause significant problems.
